Event Description

The Tree of Sharing provides holiday gifts to thousands of low-income children, women and men in the Spokane community. Gifts donated to the Tree of Sharing are distributed to 56 community service agencies that serve a broad cross-section of our community from infants to the disabled to the elderly.

Here’s how the Tree of Sharing works. Tree of Sharing booths are setup at Spokane’s three primary malls, Northtown Mall, River Park Square and the Spokane Valley Mall. Shoppers pick up a gift tag at any of these locations. It will have a brief description of the gift request and the gift recipient. For instance, you may see a tag for a 70-year-old man who wants mittens. The shopper then takes the tag, buys the mittens, and returns them to any of the Tree of Sharing locations. That present goes to the agency—which distributes the gift to the 70-year old man.

The Tree of Sharing is a project of the Westminster Congregational United Church of Christ. KREM TV has supported the Tree of Sharing since 1982. The Tree of Sharing is an entirely volunteer-run organization. Again this year, Asuris Northwest Health is a major sponsor of the Tree of Sharing.
